I tried to beat it to Hammond |
Description: |
When I saw this train coming off the Union Pacific I didnt think much of it, until I saw the second unit. To most 8881 is just another SD40-2 but in fact its actually one of the oldest engines, (not road slug) operating on CSX. It was built in Feb 1966 as Pennsylvania Railroad #6073 then it became PC 6073 after the Conrail Merger it was renumbered as CR 6326, It was later rebuilt in the mid 90's as SD40-2R CR 6991. In 1999 it went to CSX as part of the Conrail split between NS and CSX and repainted into CSX's last paint scheme. I treid to beat it to Hammond to get a better shot, but only saw the train I saw before it.... |
